The Cotswolds AONB spans parts of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire. It is not an administrative county — it is a landscape, and a remarkably consistent one. The oolithic limestone that runs through it gives every village, every barn, every estate the same golden warmth. On a clear day, that light is extraordinary. On an overcast one, the softness of it is equally beautiful.
I grew up in this part of England and know the Cotswolds well — the northern escarpment around Broadway and Chipping Campden, the central Cotswolds around Cirencester and Burford, and the gentler valleys that run south towards Stroud and Tetbury.
